A man had two of the best tickets for the FA Cup Final. As he sits down,
another man comes along and asks if anyone is sitting in the seat next
to him.
"No", he says, "the seat is empty."
"This is incredible!" said the man, "who in their right mind would have
a seat like this for the FA Cup Final, the biggest sporting event of the
year, and not use it?"
He says, "Well, actually, the seat belongs to me. My wife was supposed
to come with me, but she passed away. This is the first Cup Final we
haven't been to together since we got married."
"Oh... I'm sorry to hear that. That's
terrible. I guess you couldn't find someone else, a friend or relative
or even a neighbor to take the seat?"
The man shakes his head...
"No. They're all at the funeral."

If you ask me I think that is just cruel. If I was married and my partner died I would say hell with the tickets.

Oh im very much aware that is a joke. Just sometimes I take jokes to a more literal standpoint then what they should be.

Interesting agrument this one is, both objections have come from the other side of the pond. Sometimes humour is seen in some countries in a different light. Some will enjoy the joke or be offended by it. You can't win them all.:pyth:

Isn't it more than that? Most Americans I know seem to have an extraordinary confidence in themselves and in the virtue of hard work to bring about change. Most of the rest of us know that that is usually a distraction perpetrated by a small elite with an interest in maintaining the status quo and thus their grip on power. So, in order to make sense of anything dark or difficult we mock it. Just my ha'pen'orth

you'd positively hate my sense of humour then

I thought that the joke was rather funny, you just have to be able to look at it as a joke. I mean if someone did this for real I might question it. But then again if his wife and he were die hard fans then she might turn over in her grave if he were to have skipped the game.

A true dilemma for a true sports fan, if was the NFL or baseball what would you do? :headscratch:

If it were baseball or NFL it wouldn't matter I would go to the funeral, I am not a sports fan.
