Erik Rhodes dies of a Heart Attack at 30!

As the title says, Erik Rhodes (real name: James) one of the fairly famous porn stars has died. He leaves a blog that is full of angst and anguish about being depressed.
Note that in the line of work he'd finally chosen and the pressure he put his body through to look as hunky as he did, it's hardly surprising that he reached what he thought was coming to him...
The world will / or won't mourn him. RIP Erik, may your parents, boyfriend and parents remember you with kind thoughts. You craved loving. You never seemed content. Learning to love oneself first is the key to being able to love others.

To be honest, I don't even know who he is... but either way it's quite sad.

Atleast he's remembered and honoured by those that know of him and were fans of him.

I read through his blog and some interviews...very sad story there. I was especially moved by his interview in which he stated that he thought that the last thing he will see was his ex lover and dog on his way out...I hope he got that wish.

I never knew who he was. I feel completely straight when I see guys like him or porn like his...that has always been weird for me. I used to be afraid I might not be gay because so many people like guys who look like him (which is why he was a big star) and I get more excited by a woman. Oh well...RIP Dude!

Right I may sound awfully harsh but I don't really follow pornstars etc but I did some reading on this guy and from what I read he was a roidy and an addict and he died an addicts death, his body gave up and he popped it. I looked at his blog and he was always going on about how much meth he was doing or how much heroin he was shooting. If this story was about an actually genuine, nice human being who wasn't an addict I'd probably care more. From what I gather his blogs last post was talking about his steroid use and cycle he was about to take. Fair enough a mother and father lost a son, but he fucked up his own life through drugs.

True, he did fukc up, big time... it's still sad. Not sure what made him go that way, but it looks like low self esteem was at the heart of it. Something we can all (probably all) associate with.

A few months ago another porn "star", Sean* / Matthew Bremer from Corbin Fisher, died at the age of twenty-one. The reason of his death was not made clear... it's just too early for any young one to die.

Saying that I wouldn't rule out the fact that the drugs drove him to a depressive state, or affected his self esteem. Steroids are well known for causing emotional problems. I dunno, I'm very anti drugs, and I do t believe in glorifying domes life for being an addict.

While I can agree and kinda do, I still respect the life and death of a person, no matter their affliction, orientation, whatever. Even being an Agnostic [However spiritual], life and ultimately death is something that should be respected .

Everyone's entitled to an opinion though and I also respect those as well .

Don't feel that your opinion is being the ; "Big bad ogre" . Realism is something that is hard for many people to grasp. Growing up with the Mother I have, I'm very much the realist, however open minded. Sort of Oxymoronic, but true.

Not a fan of porn, so never heard of this bloke. Sad that he chose the path that he did, a tragedy for his family, friends and partner.

No parent should have to bury their child so young.

In his blog and I think something like two years earlier he writes that he's on some kind of new stuff, one of the side effects of which can be ... death. So it seems he was warned well in advance.

I just keep on thinking.. wow, this guy must have been really, really unhappy. And just to think that there are plenty of people like that.. is sort of depressing.

What i think is sad is that most people will think of him as less of a person because of his profession and the fact he had a drug problem.

The former has no intrinsic negative impact on a persons life, and people should not be frowned upon for working in such a profession.

Drug use also shouldn't make people be thought of as less of a person.
It's sad that he had such a problem, but that problem was likely created as a means to escape others. It's no reason to think of him as less of a person. It's just a sign that he had problems in his life, and that he wasn't getting the help he needed.

I just wish everyone has happy lives.
I truly hope that he had some deservedly good times to balance out the bad.

I wish his family the best.
I wonder how close they were to him...

How sad. I don't think I've been exposed to him heavily (I'm sure given the amount of [I'll be honest] porn I've watched, I've seen him before,) but it's sad to hear that drug use and depression took one of the men of our community.

It's so sad. I've slowly been learning through making the rounds through guys (dating, meeting, etc.) that drug use is such a prevalent part of our underground. It's like sex -- some people can't stay away from it. I know someone (wouldn't call him a friend, more of an acquaintance) who does/did meth and I just recently found out he's been diagnosed with HIV. Not the same as what's happened here, but the same sentiment rings -- drugs can do horrible, destructive things to people.
