At last, a practical use for Coca Cola
#21
Are you purposefully being obtuse?

I said in moderation it isn't bad for you. Then you said:

It's still not doing your body good though.

Then I pointed out that vinegar is an acid and does pretty much the same amount of damage that a cola can do... now you say:

On the other hand, I have never heard of anyone drinking two litres of vinegar a day.

This argument or post of yours starts off with the fallacy that drinking coke is bad for you. I point out that in moderation it is not you argue the point, now all of the sudden you are agreeing in around about way that the problem with sodas/fizzy drinks/ cola is that its the amount not the product itself that is bad for you.

So my argument still remains valid. If people drank soda in moderation is would be no problem, and yes, if people drank 2 liters of vinegar they will have a little problem.

No, I'm not. Most health professionas agree that any soft drinks are bad for health.

I don't vouch for the veracity of anything on the Internet but there are plenty of site that ennumerate what I have stated:

You seem to be a knowledgable person so I wonder why you seem to be in denial about this?

Because a majority of those sites and 'criticisms' have interesting lines like:

Quote:Tap Water: I recommend that everyone avoid drinking tap water because it can carry any number of chemicals including chlorine, trihalomethanes, lead, cadmium, and various organic pollutants.

Tap water is decent enough to drink and it won't harm you.

How do I know this, because since the introduction of cleaned tap water to the public the general health of the population has increased, improved and the life span of humans has been increased slightly.

Then we have them saying shit like this:
Quote: In March 2010, Reuters reported the results of a Danish study showing that men who drank 32 ounces or more of Coca-Cola daily could reduce their sperm count by nearly 30 percent.

32 ounces A DAY is not moderation.

Quote:Frequent exposure of teeth to acidic drinks increases the risk of tooth damage through dental erosion

Yeah I would imagine that drinking 32 ounces a day is frequent exposure. I wonder how frequent it is if you drink a 12 ounce can once in a while, not every day.

I stand by my claim that in moderation soda is not bad for you. Moderation.

Every argument that these sites go on and on about is pretty much pseudoscience, or they take out of context a minor finding and blow it way out of proportion.

We went through this with the Egg - I clearly recall when the innocent egg was deemed the culprit of heart disease and was murdering billions of people. I also recall that the media failed to focus a decade later on how the cholesterol in eggs are not only halfway the good kind but there are also other chemicals in the egg that make it harmless.

But the pseudo-scientists continue to harp on how bad the innocent egg is.

Ok but we shouldn't talk about Coca Cola but industrial food/beverage in general.
If you start to make an obsession on possible effects of what you eat, you would only eat vegetables of your garden...

Hey! My garden grows very well thank you very much!

I estimate that only 3/4 of my food comes from my garden. I love my bleached white flours, my hormone injected beefs... And my Corn Syrup.... all in moderation though Wink
