Did porn make you question your sexuality?
#11
IT was a porn website that made me realise I lliked guys. I was 13 and I may or may not have come across it accidently, but as soon as I saw it, I knew. Of course, then everything that had happened in my life up to that point made so much sense.
There was no 'questioning' per say, more like an 'I don't like this'.

I think it's interesting that you say "obviously not all guys turn me on" - and I'm not judging here - but that sure sounds like a "defense" mechanism (ie: i'm not gay, i just like looking at CERTAIN guy's dicks).

To answer your question, YES, when i was growing up YES, even tho it was str8 porn, i found myself more focused on the guy and his cock than the women he was fucking.

Oh, i'm gay, i was married to a woman for 12 years and have a child (now a young adult).

Porn can have a good effect on people judging by the responses of this topic... I would say its helped shape us all who have watched and either loived or hated it one way or another and also assisting us in realising that infact we want the bloke banging the bird despite being usually 15 and him like 30 lol its all good fun though when your young and wanting to experiment Tongue

kindest regards

there are studies of various gender visual response, seems there is a trend to who is looking at what body part.

what were people like before internet porn?

The same as now Pellaz, they still had their libido. Maybe they spent more time pursuing real sex lives...???

Well gay porn certainly predates the internet, i.e. beefcake magazines of the 50s and 60s, or the drawn erotica of Tom of Finland.

I'm more troubled by the commodification and consumer fetishism that surrounds pornographic material, I'm not comfortable with capitalist market forces determining what I should look to as objects of beauty, masculinity, or sexual prowess. The prevalence of visual erotica gives rise to a world where it is so much easier to control the dominant discourse of sexuality.

I remember seeing porn briefly when my dad first got my family a computer back in 96, I was 10. Every once in a while, I'd come inside and see a picture of a woman on the screen and then my dad would quickly minimize it. Later when my parents got divorced and I moved with my dad to Minnesota, I remember him setting the desktop background as a naked woman laying on the ground all sexy like. Not sure if he meant for me to see it or not. Probably though, my dad works on computers for a living and uses them all the time, he either did it on purpose or forgot he left it there Tongue

Anyway though, I didn't start actually looking for porn on my own til I was 13 or so, and I remember the very first place I went was http://www.porn.com because I didn't know where else to look Big Grin And I think I looked at women, I'm pretty sure. I predominantly look at ladies, just always have. It wasn't until recently that I tried some gay porn, and I dunno. I may need to look at more to get a feel for whether I really like it or not. But real live gay porn, so far, not a big thing for me. DRAWN gay porn on the other hand, I like. Specifically furries, but that's just me.

That drawn gay porn helped me really understand what I like, in terms of gay sex. The idea of being penetrated, various positions, that sort of thing. Also the type of guy I feel a bit more attracted to. I'm not big on huge muscle men or overly masculine men. I like athletic and fit, but I also like femboys too. I might like that a bit more. But I still prefer to be the bottom, if I ever were to have sex with another man.

I can see why you took it that way, but it was more like: only a certain type of aesthetic turns me on (well, certain types). I'm not sure where on the sexual spectrum I'm at.

I discovered former porn star Robin Byrd's Robin Byrd Show on public access television back in 1998 or so. The very first time I discovered the channel and the stuff that's aired, I was chilly, and it was SUMMER! But when I saw the male dancers on the show, I was hard and mesmerized.

I had a feeling back then, and it was beginning to be less and less doubtful, that I was gay.
