'Different' Gay Films
#21
'Shortbus' was a very unusual LGBT movie I saw recently. If you are prepared to witness un-simulated sex scenes then you may actually be pleasantly surprised. It's a deep and artistic movie masked by shock scenes of real sex although I have to say it was fairly good.

So basically it's porn with a believeable storyline and some dramatic conventions thrown in, right??:tongue:

I dunno if my innocent young eyes would stand being tainted by such scenes as those, but i suppose i could find the inner strength somehow...

I love "Beautiful Thing", I got it on DVD from ebay, its quite hard to get hold of but a wonderful film. Also love L.I.E., but then Paul Dano in his underpants would make any film worth watching.

Patrick Stewart did indeed play a gay man in Jeffrey but he's not the main character of the film... The main character is going through troubled times trying to figure out whether he really should date again or not... In the end, he finds just the right partner, but, Oh dear!, the man's HIV positive. What to do????

As Good As It Gets, even though its not a gay film, it does have some interesting moments, I forgot how much I liked that movie until I saw it on tv this weekend.

And, last night, though I didn't get to watch all of it since I was really tired, I came across an interesting movie called Making Love about a young doctor who is married, but has a side affair with a gay novelist. From what I saw, it was interesting, especially for being made in 1982.
