Do you think I could make a living as a gay porn star?

That is not a reflection on you, its a reflection on the industry and the current trends on where people are going to get their dose of erotica.

With the advent of the internet and Porn-Tube and all of those other wild and crazy sites that allow folk to upload video of their activities, becoming a porn 'star' is extremely difficult.

Unless you have something that is worth shelling out $20.00 for a tape/dvd when I can get many hours of porn for free.

Cute boyish good looks are a dime a dozen. Even large endowments are not hard to find for free on the inter-webs.

I can also get free photos, so I no longer need to buy magazines or even walk into the porn-store, I can do all of that in the comfort of my own home and get some pretty wild stuff from amateurs who I can convince myself I am more likely to meet and have a chance with than say Jeff Stryker, Ken Ryker, and all of those other well known individuals.

Even strippers are going to find it more difficult. The whole 'go and see a person dancing with a pole' is being replaced by surfing the net.

Even prostitutes are looking at a major job loss as they will be replaced with robots over the next few decades. http://news.discovery.com/tech/robot-pro...20423.html

Healthcare is a 'sound' career if you want to have money to live on. Sure its boring, but robotics and computers are likely to replace you for another 2 decades or so. Prostitutes will be replaced before health care professionals.
and so the robot rebellion begins:biggrin:

On another forum I stated something to the effect that robot prostitutes are a great idea until one goes into an infinite loop error and ends up sexing someone to death. :o

I think many of them do do escorting as a secondary job because shooting a porn film is probably not something that they can do for any length of time unless they are particularly sought after by the companies... You get to see the same names go around most porn sites for a while and then their names never appear again... You could read some of the book written by Aiden Shaw or watch the documentaries Everything you ever wanted to know about gay porn stars (or some title similar to that one)...

Basically, I don't think any one of us is telling you NOT to do it, but we are just trying to tell you that it's not an ideal life and that as any other job it will have its issues, about losing your job, about being able to sustain it for a period of time, of whether you don't find it too hard psychologically even though you seem to think you'll be getting great sex out of it. If you want great sex, maybe joining a club would be better... if you're ready to do some escorting that would also be a way of getting sex and getting paid for it, at least you wouldn't have to have the stops and starts of getting into filming. If you think porn stars go at it for 20 minutes uninterrupted, you're wrong. They change the camera angles all the time, and the lighting, and want to edit a funny noise out, or any glitch, so it's quite a stressful job, in the end. Just don't think of it as being all perks and glamour.

I don't want to research them now but there are the obvious ones like Jenna Jameson and Ron Jeremy. Also Pierre Fitch is a millionare gay porn star. Sasha Grey became a pornstar recently...I think around 2006 she said she was making $100,000 a year.....there was a porn star Chrissy Moran who quit porn but she used to make around $50,000 a month.

I have several porn star friends. It pays well.....when you get a gig. It's not always going to be steady work.

The answer is NO.

I sent photos to a few porn studios and none of them replied to my emails. Just a few who said thanks for the pics we'll contact you if we need you.

I've also heard or read that women make more money than men in that industry... Don't know why, but I guess it's because there are more straights (men) interested in straight pornography than there are gays interested in men porn stars... statistically. I guess if Pierre Fitch is a millionaire, it's probably because using his stardom, he's branched out on many other lucrative activities and has managed to make his money fruitful.

Well DJ, if they need you, they've got your email and your photos...
