I know this is an older thread, but this was a great segment on a Nat'l Geo series on the Brain, and it was amazing how smart these birds are ! Nova did a great show on them as well.

There's a pair of ravens here, Cory and Corina, that we've trained to come eat when we call them. (Or they've trained us to feed them when we have leftover meat, depending on your perspective.)

Living in a rural area with no trash pickup, we compost the green waste and feed the meat scraps to the ravens to reduce the volume and smell of what we have to haul to the landfill. They do get mischievous when they think we haven't fed them for too long a time. When I make chicken stock with the remains of a whole roast chicken, the ravens pick out all the chicken parts and leave the veggies for something else to eat.
