Internet Dating
#1
So, I have been on various websites with limited success. I am looking for someone to date, not a hook-up.

There are very few gay resources near where I live that can help. It does get rather discouraging as I do not believe that I am hideous looking, although I may have the personality of Shrek.

Have a look at what has been tried and lemme know if there are other venues. I am going to volunteer on some gay organizations to try and increase my level of exposure.

Had a few dates with a cutie on Gay.com, but we are at different spaces in our lives to allow for a relationship.

OKCupid has been a failed endeavour.

Zoosk was absolutely useless.

Craigslist ads resulted in a 90 - 10 ratio of sex to weird people wanting dates.

Gay Calgary Magazine advert resulted in zero replies.

Have gone to Plenty of Fish recently. So far it looks the best. Now to see if anything comes of it.

Out Personals, Squirt, Manhunt, ..... - I did say that I was not looking for hook ups.

My thoughts on online dating is that people are weird. Most of the time its just a one night stand. When I first came out, I met this guy and he wanted to do it the first night. I made up an excuse and left, never saw him again. I think volunteering for gay organizations is a good idea. Whenever I can I volunteer at the gay community center, even though all I do is custodian work there I still meet a lot of cool people.

I got my husbear online. Man, was I lucky I happened by that website on that night.............

I'd say internet dating is a great option. It certainly did me good. But I was willing to travel by train for 6 hours. Going to the internet probably won't find you the perfect date, in your own neighbourhood.

I've had a few successful dates with guys met at Match.com.

Have you tried OurTime.com? It is for people 40 or older.

My beat friend met his husband online, but not on any gay dating site. They were both on a forum about martial arts, got to talking and discovered they were both gay and lived only 3 hours away from each other, and the rest is history lol -

So IDK, do you have any hobbies or interests that you'd enjoy discussing? At the very least, you might make a few friends. I actually met my best friend on a writing site.
