Is the age of nice guys with values dead?
#1
Hey guys,

Having contributed to a thread last night it made me think is the age of finding a man with manners and good values truly dead? Recently I have found myself becoming more detached from the gay community to the extent where I am starting to hate men and they are starting to disgust me. I don't know it just seems if you go out on the dating scene it seems men are only looking for what is between your legs rather than you as a person. Sometimes I feel old because my friends seem to go out looking for a shag whereas I just go out to socialise and have a drink and nothing else. I just find it laughable sometimes when I hear "oh there is only so long you can go without sex", yeah you can go with out sex, just have some self control and not act like an animal and meet some stranger to have sex with. Personally all my life I have been taught to have manners and to respect myself and uphold a certain standard of behaviour. To me this means not going to a sauna for a random hook up or go surfing the web for men for sex. Personally I love to date someone, get to know them for who they are and then let the relationship and physical aspects develop at their own pace, oh and if a guy talks about his bits on the first, second or even third date this is a red flag to me. By a relationship I mean a monogamous relationship in which two people actually love each other none of this open relationship twaddle. Seriously if there is a need for an open relationship surely the relationship itself is dying and both partners are in serious denial. What ever happened to relationships that were about sacrifice and love ? As for cheating, even if an individual cheated once on me I would kick them to the curb, you clearly didn't love me enough so you slept with another guy. I have seen many gay friends have their partners have a one night slip up and cheated and yet they stay with them? To me they are prolonging the agony out of blind conviction, I just find the fact when they respond with "oh we have been together for x number of years it's a shame to break up" personally I think this is bs, sometimes I feel like saying "your partner is a scumbag and an animal, he doesn't love you or appreciate you move on and stop being pathetic".

Seriously what has happened to the age of manners, traditional family values? I am not an angel by any standards but at his whole thing with hook ups, cheating, open relationships and the like is awfully tacky and scummy. So am I being totally silly? Am I being over the top? Or do I just have an old souklthat doesn't fit in with people of my age? But please tell me, is anyone else out there with the same values I have?

Hi mrk2010, just a short reply to say that good manners and gentlemen still do exist, I'm sorry to say you've probably only seen the rough and unpleasant side of some gay men, please don't turn bitter because of your experience, you've got a lot going for you and still young... Rest assured there are less open relationships in existence than you may believe. Just look how many people gay or not who are looking for a relationship with one person and you will realise that this rubbish about open relationships are a nonsense, we humans are more conservative with a little c than you would imagine.. So come on lets not get so bitter just yet...

Hello Mr K,
I will tread carefully on this topic as i think i had my wind up during text lol.. Well i think the reason society changes is because of how corporations make us and make our avalibility to sex easier... I watched a program called BRITIAN IN BED and this explained how in the 1950's people were very old traditional values and during the 60's when the pill was made people saw it as an excuse to be more explorative in sex. During the 70's you have the hippie freedom huggers having a explosive march... In the 80's madonna decided to exploit sex in a completely different way by broadcasting this in her music videos... In the 1990's when viagra was discovered by accident whilst looking for a possible cure for heart condition people men mostly used this to their advantage to increase thier sexual exploitation... Loads of more interesting stuff occured in this program but i cant remember everything

Kindest regards

I think if u weigh up the odds us as people are not that different from wild animals.... We are not exactly tame as a species with the way we live causing alot of devistation. People deny this on the fact we have acknowledged some things on life but it doesnt mean we are no less of an animal than a dog...

dogs shag anything and a man would usually shag anything if desperate enough

Of course there are decent people. It takes a long time to find a person to love. Love is hard and takes work. You have to take people with their faults and hope they will accept you with your faults. Fairy Tale romances do not exist . . . you already know that, but you have to accept that too.
