Same things were said about The Spice Girls, all the "Boy Bands", and even Elvis Presley.
Miley Cyrus has dug her own whore hole to live in. Instead of growing up and growing into an adult woman, she decided to become a slut/pornstar/whore, but that was her decision and she will have to live with it the rest of her life.
Dont know who Harry Styles is or One Direction. Looked them up on Youtube and listened to a song.......didnt seem that bad. Although he is one FUGLY kid!!!! Yea, I went there.
The whole entertainment industry needs to be reorganized and start being held accountable for the filth and scum they promote.

Actually id say harry isnt the worst, its the others.
Yeah they may of said the same thing but at least those artists had something.
We had the boyband "take that" in the 90s, they were so much better than 1D, and gave us robbie williams
Its not just 1D music and everything about them i hate, its the relentless buzz & hype that surrounds them, there demented fans (who by the way have split into 2 factions of true 1D fans and uuum not-true ones.
You might of listened to there first single mistertinkles (the one that started it all) yes its catchy, they’ve had some insanely shit songs since then.

My argument here (siding with partis) is that catchy doesn't necessarily mean quality. That's the problem with today's music and celebrity buzz. It's something that has certainly happened before (and often), but we've had some periods of distance from it every once and a while.
When you're going for catchy, all you are trying to do is gather attention by saying "look at me, look at me!" It certainly works too, and it will definitely turn a major profit. Then it becomes all about money instead of making anything that can actually be called quality. Good job on your career, but it's not doing the fans any good.
Meanwhile, anyone trying to do anything well with actual effort gets passed by and left in the dust to be forgotten. Just because they don't know how to make money and run a business doesn't mean that they are any less of an artist. I feel really bad for them, and I wish I knew about them so I could support their work. Unfortunately, I will probably never hear about them.
This isn't to say that catchy cannot be quality. It just seems like most of the time, the stuff that is thrown in our faces isn't. This has turned people like me to saying that anything made today sucks. That isn't true at all, but the media sure is doing a good job making it seem that way. I've just had to dig deeper to get past the terrible line of celebrities hogging that spotlight.

I agree with everything kyle except you say its happened before and often but really 1D is a whole new thing and the media machine that surrounds them, the talent to sucsess ratio has never been this off.

This is why I only really listen to Reggae/Soca/Dancehall, because all the other stuff is most times crap; However, bands like OneRepublic and Coldplay give out some nice music, with substantial depth.
Very very few songs do I like by "flashy" artists, such as GaGa, I only liked Bad Romance, Miley Cyrus was Wrecking Ball, Nicki Minaj was Your Love (even though I like a good deal of her music, I only really like that one song) and so on.
People like Adelle and Katy Perry give good messages or atleast ones that don't revolve around sex or money or so forth.
I think with the inflammation of easy fame and money, it's a never ending cycle with music, because people live vicariously through and emulate the artist(s) and their lifestyle, thereby endorsing such a lifestyle which perpetuates a cycle.

Wanna be a little Princess? Listen to Taylor Swift, Willow Smith
I listen to music for the music and how it makes me feel. I don't really try to emulate what they're telling me or how they are, unless it's going to better my life.
I can't truely hate on these artists who just shit out their music, because it's their love/hobby/job/aspiration, and I don't wanna trample on it, but it's a shame that more often then not it's just for money and not really much else substantially speaking.

There may be some good singers out there, and some even really bad ones, but they all have the SAME thing in common.........WRITERS WITH LACK OF IMAGINATION!!!!
The pick 5 - 10 words and just sing the SAME GODDAMNED BORING, DULL, IDIOTIC words OVER and OVER and OVER again!!!!
You mean to tell me, out of the ENTIRE DICTIONARY of words, you CANNOT find MORE than 10 words to sing in ONE song???????
I would not only FIRE someone who wrote a "song" like that, I would slap them with a lawsuit AND a metal baseball bat!!!!!
Yes, even some songs I like are nothing but repetitive words for 3 - 5 minutes, but I like them more for the music behind it, not the lyrics.
Still, there is NO excuse why song writers cannot make up two or three paragraphs to sing, instead of 5 lousy words!!!!
