Personal hygiene dilemma

I agree some could relax a bit about germs, but are you referring to the 3rd world where diarrhea, cholera, malaria, etc are rampant? Don't believe for a second that we haven't benefitted from improved hygiene and public health measures.

One step further. How many of you take your shoes off when you enter your home?

I have parquet floors and rugs and I ask people to remove their shoes at the entrance. I don't want anyone who has just come in from the street and trod in heaven's knows what, to spead it through my flat.

This is customary in Scandinavian countries I believe and also in some Far Eastern countries. Anywhere else?
