I think we've played some part in what Africa is today, Europeans divided it up between ourselves in the 19 and 20th century, a land of primitives, at best they were to be "civilised" - one huge portion was "given" king leopard of Belgium, the forced labour, disease and famine slashed in half the country's population.
Just thinking aloud...
