Shaving (the face)
#1
Hey guys,

Figured I'd post this here.

Anyhow... I have major problems with shaving my face. This is mostly because a lot of the time I'm too lazy to do it (but recently it's because health issues came up.) Well, I caved today and shaved because I got tired of the grizzly appearance and I've found at least three spots I've missed. I can fix them easily enough, but I'm running out of razors and I have problems with most of them.

I use a Gillette Fusion electric razor. I LOVE it and it works great... except the upkeep on the heads is about 18 dollars a pack (for eight,) and while I can make them last, it does get expensive having to refill them every few months (for someone who doesn't make a lot of money.)

Now, I know the suggestion would be to use regular, disposable razors, but I have sensitive skin. If I use regular razors to shave my ENTIRE face, I end up with ingrown hairs/bumps/etc. The ingrown hairs usually turn into pimples... and, in some cases, cysts.

Anyhow, I'm thinking about taking a plunge and investing in a self-cleaning electric razor (with a dock.) I don't know what I should get though. I'm trying to be economical about price, but if I have to spend a lot to start up and it's going to relieve my issues, I'd be fine doing it.

Anyhow, let me know if you guys have any advice.

Thanks,

- Blue

Blue, I had the Braun self cleaning razor and used it for about 3 months. I had always shaved with a razor (Gillette Sensor or Mach 3) and the electric thing sucked! The self cleaning was a joke and the solution was very expensive. Major disappointment, and expensive.

http://www.amazon.com/Squeegee-ToiletTree-Products-Guaranteed-Designed/dp/B003BQ6QXK Check this product out. I went back to shaving with a Mach 3 and use this fogless shower mirror and it really works well. I like that I shave toward the end of my shower when my skin is moist and the humidity of the shower softens everything up. Also, it couples it with my shower and makes me feel like I'm not having to go out of my way to shave.

My opinion is to stay away from the electric razor. I have also used the little electric Fusion with the trimmer but found it to be bulky for face shaving and now just use just the trimmer to groom around facial hair (when I have it) and ears. The replacement blades sure are expensive!

Good luck, hope this helps.

Well, I haven't used my Razor since I shaved off my moustache[which took forever to grow Rolleyes ] in January, so I don't know.

Although, my friend, although a female, uses Smooth Away. Which can be used anywhere on the body and she said, "it get's rid of gross hair and exfoliates gurl" Rolleyes .

You're supposed to just rub the area and the hair goes away, and it cleans the skin as well.

I'm not so sure whether it affects sensitive skin differently from non-sensitive skin, but that seems to be an alternative.

The best time to shave is right after a nice hot shower. I too have very sensitive skin and cannot stand electric shavers.

I use Gillette Mach 3 razors and a shaving GEL rather than a shaving CREAM. King Of Shaves is the one I get best results with.

Strange... I always shave before I shower  But I don't see the deal with shaving everyday, there is nothing wrong with having it a bit stubble Smile I perhaps shave once or twice tops per week  I hate shaving
Sometimes you need a bit of chaos in your life to be able to shrug off pitiful disdain about something meaningless.
