Spanish Civil War

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_Civil_War

i sometimes wonder if we are heading for a civil war. and if not that, just tiny feuds that are silly and avoidable and deplete the quality of life

jrr Tolkien i think i read was for the Franco forces because the republicans were bombing Catholics and he was a Catholic

and Franco did the same i think

what a crazy world

when going to a war do we have all the facts ?

both sides in that war were crazy

people are sick

I know. The way that politicians and the media talks, it seems like none of us will ever reach agreement on many issues. Yet, year after year, day after day we find ways to look beyond our differences.

I've often thought that things were getting so out of hand that resolutions were never possible, but then I remember that the world doesn't function according to how the media likes to portray it nor are people as divided as politicians might like them to be.

The American Civil War was coming for decades. There were land disputes with innumerable conflicts and compromises, ideological factions, and more importantly, large cultural differences. People knew the civil war was coming . . . people had a fairly good idea it would happen when the country was first founded. We have faced similar difficulties in the past without resorting to war. And even if it does come, we will know for certain that it is coming well in advance.

I think that goes for many of us. Here is one of my earliest American ancestors. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Willard
He would be on my paternal grandmother's side. On my mother's side, my family received a land grant in the Shenandoah Valley for their services in the French and Indian War/The Seven Years War. I have also had family fight in both the civil War and the Revolutionary War on both sides. It is not that uncommon.

It doesn't mean that we are doomed to repeat the same mistakes as those who came before us, however.

And, there are actually many people who have lobbied on issues surrounding automobile accidents. The effect they have had can be seen across the country. MADD is the reason why the drinking age in the U.S. is 21. Wearing a seatbelt is now mandatory throughout much of the U.S. and car manufacturers are constantly improving safety standards, So, people do care about automobile accidents.
