Very interesting documentary on TV last night about gays who have escaped to Germany from Middle Eastern countries and how they have been subjected to homophobic attacks by, of all people, other refugees from Middle Eastern countries. What I found so odd and even horrific, that some had also been raped by these people, homophobes but who didn't seem to mind engaging in homosexual sex.

To be honest most countries have a real variation of acceptance within them. Thailand on general might be homophobic but I've heard very much the opposite about Bangkok. Similarly, I've been to Latvia, and I found the capital was pretty open, but I bet it's a totally different story in towns and villages.
