Think Progress: Obama Administration Finalizes LGBT-Friendly Hospital Policy
Quote:The Department of Health & Human Services has finalized new policy on hospital visitation rights for same-sex couples. According to a memo released today, hospitals that receive Medicare and Medicaid funds must allow patients to designate their own visitors as well as who can make emergency medical decisions, including same-sex partners. The Health Resources & Services Administration will also announce a $248,000 grant to help train community health centers on how to better serve LGBT populations.
