GAGA overrated?
#11
She makes me grin but I cant say I really know any of her music except for the snippets I have heard here and there and I am neutral...I keep my radio on the jazz stations these days and Gaga does not have any offerings in that genre.

I like that she was born on my lover's birthday ...I have a thing for guys born the last week of March and I like the girls as well usually.

Her performance art is interesting from what I can see...the 2010 version of David Bowie.

So heres how it is. It does seem like GaGa is just a cookie cutter popstar with a diferent flavor. But Then I saw some of her actual performances. On TV ofcourse as I am a poor man. The first I saw was the MTV awards where she dressed like something out of silent hill and performed Paparazi. At the end of the song she had a scene where she basicall up and died. who does death scenes in concert performances? The pushers thats who. Thats when I thought maybe there was something more to it. The next notable TV moment was the fact that she wore a dress to an award show made out of meat. Most people wouldve chosen scandalous dresses with tons of cleavage and more likely only took half a yard of fabric to make. She covered herself up almost completely. IN MEAT. One more noteable Apearence I saw was her recent performance on Ellen. She performed her newest song Judas and it wasnt the song (however intresting the metaphoric imagry is) that blew me away. It was that fact that 99.9% of the song she was dancing. She danced hard and fast and kept up with the backup dancers. And she did it while singing and NOT lip syncing. I cant tell you how rare that is.

About her humanitarian work I actually doubt she would be this involved in the gay comunity if not for her rise to fame. But she took a good look at her fans whom were a demographic of mostly gay, and she saw all the problems. She saw the joy that her music brought them. So she decided to do more then just music. Is that so wrong? I mean who cares if shes fucking rich now the point is that shes pumping all sorts of support into not just ouur civil rights movement but also enviromental movement and even animal rights. She might be a bleeding heart liberal but thats why we love her so much. She takes something she doesnt like in the world turns it on its head and does something shocking. For the first time ever someone causes the world to gasp simultaneously without a wardrobe malfuntion or drugs or mistreated children. Thats why I love her. Even if she isnt as original as she could be. But honestly who is these days?

I love Gaga and always will. Yes she is simple in a way, but to me and many others she's also deeper than she appears. Thats how you feel about someone you love in the public eye.

Here's my take Gaga. She's extremely talented. The Fame and Monster are 2 GREAT fun pop records. She can write hooks and melodies like nobody's business. Having said that, I want to see her grow. The singles from Born this Way are like The Fame part 39. It's a shame because I think she's coasting. She's better then what she's putting out:frown:

i like lady gaga
she has lots of good ways about her but she also has some bad ways about her as well

like getting high in bad situations and some of her costumes are really bad like the meat and the kermit costume that was so embarrassing to kermit
but the good is that she tries very well to make others feel that your not alone and she does help the community.

She is brilliant and talented! Very few can reach her level ...... at the moment. She is true and real musician. Not like Britney .... or artists like B.

Don't know about overrated, she's certainly overworked, god knows what she's taking to keep up that schedule, have a rest and try and come up with something original, not rip of Madonnas 80s stuff.

I don't like her new album that much theres only one or two songs I like.. I think the image Gaga has created is very over the top - like the meat dress I still don't understand that. Her songs I think she likes to try and cause a fuss about especially with some of the lyrics. As for her actual voice - Live she sounds amazing and is very very talented - especially when she does it acoustically, I actually prefer her singing live to the mashed overly produced album records. I would like to see her do more with other artists to be fair - Just because I think it could be interesting.

She is a clever girl building on the 'House of Gaga' which in itself is a very successful brand especially in the gay community.

I learn to love it more and more.
