Occupy Wall St---I warned you, didn't I?

WesHollywood Wrote:Now, today is a new day. Hopefully you can look at things with a fresh point of view. Message Boards are a verbally violent place because we discuss issues that deeply effect our lives. You have claimed to be a teabagger, Republican, 1%er, GLBT. You make unsubstantiated remarks constantly and your main source of posting information is name-calling.
You've linked zero sources in any of your political posts here in the past week, and spent an entire post talking about my personal sexual history (of which you know nothing).

Look in the mirror before you cast stones.

WesHollywood Wrote:Then as the walls close in, and you are going down, you demand sympathy because your lover died in an auto accident. So, the members of this forum let you slide. Clearly you need some grief counseling. However, your problems continue to be a distracting irritation in this forum because you want to play "king of the hill" and dominate debate with your drivel.
The members of this forum? You've been here as long as me. I sure as hell don't want your sympathy, as acidic as it may be.

You crossed a line...you don't fuck with family, and you don't fuck with lovers. That you even brought up sex, in a political thread, is immature and plays into the worst gay stereotypes ("gay men are sex-obsessed pigs")

WesHollywood Wrote:Simply stated, sh*t or get off the pot. Either you are going to defend your laughable politics or you are going become a viewer until such time as you can be civil. You are precisely the kind of guy that should be sliced and diced as a traitor to the GLBT movement. So what is it going to be?
All I've seen from you are unsourced claims and appeals to emotion ("OMG my friend got screwed doctors are evil" and "Evil teabaggers are coming to lynch you!") It's what you were trained to do as a marketing major....appeal to emotions. I'm a scientist who deals with the cold hard truth, so we will never see eye to eye.

I've dealt with emotional arguements before...and I'm learning not to waste my breath. You let your emotions dominate your reason, and thus reject any information which upsets your feel-good worldview. Ironic how someone who considers himself so enlightened can be so small-minded, but that's what happens when you stereotype and demonize your opponents. You just called me the enemy, as if were were fighting World War Two. Gods help you if you treat politics like war.

You don't know my life, my history, or what I believe. You just take a label "Teabagger 1%er" and apply the same stereotypes you do to the entire "Homeland", as if 100 million people were all identical and below you. That you persecute others in the same exact manner as LGBT have been persecuted is both hypocritical and disgusting, and I hope the members who read your posts in these two threads recognize and learn from your foolishness. You don't know the definition of civil, if your behavior in the past week is any indication.

I have more to fear from you than my Catholic neighbors next door. Sad.

WesHollywood Wrote:Basically, we have three types of people on this planet.
And this is why you fail. You box 7 billion people into three groups. That's a sign of small-mindedness. It's the sort of thing Southern Baptists do, not well-educated Renaissance Men. Has all the nuance of a cro-magnon.

WesHollywood Wrote:Those who have a better economic life, those who want it, and those trying to live a normal life based upon the model of a liberalized inclusive straight world.
That's the danger of living in a liberal LA enclave...you start thinking the entire world looks like your neighborhood in LA. You pride yourself on your racial diversity...but it's apparent that your world lacks cultural and lifestyle diversity.

Everyone you meet fits into one of your neat little boxes here, and you treat them based upon their box. You've permanently dumped me into the box that should be burned, so you will forever ignore everything that I say.

fredv3b Wrote:I'll leave aside your personal opinions on the Log Cabin Republicans, but I will ask why being LGBT should make one a socialist?
It doesn't...and the LGBT community in America is increasingly agreeing. In 2010, 31% of LGBT voters supported the GOP...the largest percentage ever.

http://www.blogcabin.net/?p=981

The Democrats don't own your sexual orientation, contrary to what Wes here wants you to believe. The black protestants and union catholics in the Democratic party are just as hostile to LGBT as the baptist fundies in the Republicans. The Clintons opposed gay marriage to appease those groups, no different than the Republicans.

Any LGBT marriage initiatives need both liberals and conservatives to pass...you're not going to get that consensus by declaring war on half the country. People like me changing hearts and minds in the heartland do more for equality and normalization than holing yourself up in a liberal enclave.

How many homophobes did Wes convince to support gay marriage?

WesHollywood Wrote:To begin with you are the one pushing the word "socialist" with regard to GLBT.

You repeatedly refer to the Log Cabin Republicans as a country club. Me thinks pot is calling the kettle black.

WesHollywood Wrote:Let us remember history will show that it was Republican greed that led to the Wall Street Bail out in 2008, and turned taxpayers into shareholders. President Obama, as challenged in the presidential oath of office, tried to protect capitalism.

It was short-term greed, both in Washington and on Wall Street, over riding long-term self-interest and good governance. You imply that that such greed is a fundamental and unavoidable part of the Republican Party and that there is never such greed in the Democratic Party and therefore we should all believe in the principles of the Democratic Party. Yet you have barely attempted to justify each of these implications.

WesHollywood Wrote:Again, you talk a good story for Log Cabin Republicans. I hear you trying to grab onto some success for Log Cabin Republicans with DADT, but everyone knows it was President Obama and Congress that repealed that disgusting legislation.

By the same argument all legislation is passed by Congress and the President, so in the absence of the Stonewall Democrats effectively controlling Congress they deserve no credit for legislation either.

WesHollywood Wrote:I did not see any links provided by you to substantiate that Log Cabin Republicans is little more than a country club for affluent people looking to decorate themselves as contributors to the GLBT cause.

Links? I posted an argument. If you think I am lying or being misleading have the guts to say so, don't insinuate it. I never had any hope of convincing you your beliefs are clearly beyond argument, I only posted for the benefit of others who may be reading this thread.

WesHollywood Wrote:The Stonewall Democrats, THE GLBT WING of the Democratic Party are the real movers and shakers in GLBT politics along with a some other committed liberal groups. Log Cabin Republicans are fluff.

If you are arguing that the Stonewall Democrats are more influential than the Log Cabin Republicans then, frankly, that's a statement of the bleedin' obvious. Like it or not the Republicans will continue to win some elections and hold power for significant periods of time both in Washington and in the States. Which is precisely why we need more people to join the Log Cabin Republicans to help make them more influential, even if all they achieve is preventing Republicans doing certain things.

If the Stonewall Democrats are influential enough to be referred to as a wing of the Democratic Party, then when the Democrats held the Presidency and control of both Houses of Congress why the hell was DOMA and DADT not repealed and ENDA enacted?

It is people, not parties, that have done the most in These United States to influence and make change in Washington DC on matters of law and policy regarding the rights of minorities.

It was the 'hippies' and 'civil rights activists' who took to the streets that influenced public opinion more than either of the evil Political Parties. People, not parties, have done the foot work. The Politicians, in fear of their jobs, make some tiny changes to appease the masses in order to stay in office another term, or perhaps in order to keep the guillotine from becoming a crucial player in politics.

It was Walter Cronkite and other real news journalists/reporters who stoically told us the news, and just the news reporting the marches, the sit ins, the riots dispassionately without telling us how we should feel about the news.

People, not parties who took to the streets to vote for legislation and voted out bad party people who didn't tow the road and follow the will of the people.

These United States of America has forgotten that they are a nation OF the people, BY the people FOR the people. We are not democrats, we are not republicans, we are people, we are We The People.

In as much as some of us may hate it, those Occupy People are We The People taking to the streets and making their opinions about a corrupt, bankrupt (both economically and morally and ethically) system that they are no longer amused with.

Sure, they may not have a single goal, yes there are dirty, pot taking hippies in the crowd, yes there are those who are only along for the ride, but they are mixed into a a large and growing group of people who are angry, fed up, sick and tired of a system that is failing.

Too many people are still playing the Blame Game. I suppose it is just far easier to sit and point a finger and rehash the stupidity of decades of bad policies and bad politic. I suppose it is just easier to throw out statistics and numbers.

We the People, not only of These United States of America, but also We the People of this Planet Earth are waking up, they are pissed and eventually this barbaric system we have is going to be flushed down the toilet.

You are dillusional. Read your last three posts, #41, #42, and #43. They are simple name calling babbling. You look like a fool in your own words. I have been asked not to upset you. You are plainly in need of psychological help. You should get off the internet, and call that suicide line you have mentioned or go for grief counseling.

Links are something I do not joke about. The only links you have ever provided were out of date, or not directly related to the topic at hand. Then you pulled that information dump that failed to bury an issue you were losing. You say I have not posted a link in weeks, check out post 37 in this thread. I did not come here to spend my internet time putting a basket case back together. Why don't you leave and get some help? No one here really wants to see you crash.

Forgive me. Dissection posts seem to ramble because the author is more interested in coming up with a clever response to each section of a previous poster than they are in communicating their message. Would you please summarize your post into a simple three sentence paragraph, and I will be happy to address it. This is just gibberish.

The summary is, I think you are wrong.

If dissection posts ramble it is only because the posts they dissect ramble. I am sorry that you appear unable to properly understand written English and debate in a meaningful manner.

Wow, with all the flaming and name calling in this thread, I don't think anyone has answered a basic question I have. What do these people, who are protesting in many cities in the United States, hope to accomplish? I don't understand their message, maybe I'm just slow, but what are they trying to say? As I understand it, the purpose of protest is to get your message out to tha majority, well we in the majority do not get the message of the occupiers, which may explain why nobody cares about them.
