"Bear" preferance in gay culture
#1
It hit me lately that I am what they call a "Wolf" with bearish traits... And I am ultimately under the label of "Bears" in the gay culture and community. Which got me wondering, what is the preference of "bears" in the gay community... I mean like how much are gays attracted to "bears" and i don't meant just bears.. I'm talking about the whole full package, you know... bears, wolves, otters, gummy bears, chasers, daddies.. etc

Now I know some of you are gonna be saying: Well, everyone has his own preference and to each his own taste.
Though I realize that, I am looking for a more specific answer like statistics and percentage.. do clubbers like bears? or would twinks be into bears? what are the statistics? What are people's opinions? How popular are they? I would try to know myself, but unfortunately for me I live in a country that disagrees with gays so much they treat them like criminals... As if love was ever a crime! *Shaking my head*

Fat / chunky people are the only thing that have ever aroused me. A lean / muscular boy looks nice to touch and I might be able to learn to like that but I am primarily interested in bears / cubs, so I would prefer some fat on top of those muscles. I wonder how many bears like boys with shit bodies.

I am not really on the gay scene so I don't know how popular they are. I always felt embarrassed about loving fat people (also about the fact that these fat people were men), but now I am kind of proud of it. I would like to tell someone.

My taste about bears is a bit different. I love hairy men but they have to be slim. No fat people for me.

Sweetheart... don't label yourself any more than you have to... MANY GAY MEN find someone who looks like you HOTTER THAN FUCK (whether you call it Otter, Wolf, Bear or WTF ever). Just know that you are one sexy SOB and the boys will flock to you. You already know this! Tongue3

I doubt anyone can give a real statistic here.

Besides, what you need to account for is that Western Culture (States, UK, etc) and Middle Eastern Culture have different social acceptance of not just the gay, but how much body hair a guy should have.

It came to my attention decades ago that the Middle Eastern Men are the best men out there due to their ability to grow delicious pelts of man-fur. Most likely if the Middle East was more open and accepting of LGBT and had lots of clubs that you would find that men there prefer hairy men - or wolves/bears what have ya.

Here in the states there is this disgraceful (and should be a capital offense in my mind) fad of men waxing, shaving and removing the body hair. So here in the states there is most likely going to be a far fewer percentage of the population into man-fur.

Another aspect here is age. Us older guys grew up in a culture BEFORE porn-movies established the naked skin as being 'just right'. So we tend to gravitate toward men who have body-hair.

I know that in San Francisco that there are many leather and bear clubs - clubs that cater directly to those men and their admirers - Leather and Bear culture kinda, sorta overlap on many ways.

Back in my 20's when I went for my usual ocean of free* alcohol, everyone of those bars/clubs were usually packed.

Age, culture and perhaps other factors play a roll in a communities percentages of what people prefer.

Since my twenties I have lived in several other places and from what I have seen and experienced I would say that if pressed for a statistic that there is about a 25% population of bear lovers and bears here in the states.

Mind, this does not include the majority of gays who don't make it obvious or have stickers, wristbands or a tiny teddy bear in their back pocket (yeah its a signal). So I could be way off.

IF what I have read in many places about the statistics of 'LGBT' in the world in general is anywhere near the truth, then about only 60% of the LGBT are actually actively out and about and doing 'the scene' the other 40% loathing and hating the scene and acting like 'just a person' instead of waving their gay flag. 40% is a huge number that could skew any estimate since the majority of those guys I have met that don't do the scene also don't do all of that other stuff like shave their bodies and stuff.

free* - back in my twenties I rarely had to buy my own drinks, so many guys actually believed they could get me drunk enough to go home with them - little did they know that the more drunk I get the less likely that sex is going to happen

Pictures or it didn't happen.

Allow me to be the final judge, jury and executioner on this case. Trust me, I will get down to the bottom of this case and go over the matter with a fine toothed comb, and leave no stone unturned before I render my verdict. Wink

All we can talk about is vague sorts of overall patterns...and, as mentioned, it's a different world here. Not just in America, but even here in Colorado. This seems to be something of a "hot spot" for bears...to the point that one of the bear clubs in town can afford to be dickish enough to keep out people that don't fit THEIR definition of attractive. (Seriously - fuck that place.) I've most often seen bears with others that would also be classified as such...or perhaps be on the peripheries. But I've seen bears with twinks, gym guys, nerds, you name it.
