That's right, a custom entry. It can be done and is done on other sites. Smile

Third party or Moderate. I think with Libertarian 'centrist' also applies.

The biggest problem with US Politics is that its a two party system. Forget ever getting a third party president into office. There were only two cases of that - Lincoln (The Republican party was considered a third party because it was new) and Washington. There were not parties since the Union was brand spanking new.

There is debate about Lincoln's successor, but he wasn't voted in he 'inherited' the position.

As for Senators and Representatives - slim to none is usually the odds for a Third party candidate to win.

This last is largely due to the fact that the media steers clear of the third parties unless someone in the third party does something off or odd then its on and on.

So you are going to be voting Republican or Democrat if you want your vote to have a chance of counting. Often enough the election will cast your third party vote for one of the two parties - even to the one you don't want in office.

So why bother with allowing people to voice third party options when third party options are not considered real options?

Ron Paul is a good example of Third Party Politicians. He went on to run on the Republican ticket in order to be taken seriously. http://www.gopusa.com/news/2011/05/13/li...an-ticket/

The real horror is that the majority of Americans do not exercise their ability to think and actually opt out of the Two Party System. If a 51% majority of voters up and voted third party one year - any party but the Demoncrates and Repugnantliars - the upset would throw the political system into a downward spiral and cause massive changes in how politicians actually do their jobs.

It ain't going to happen because the average American is about as bright as 500 watt light bulb pushing 1 watt.
