You have to be pretty dumb to choose to attend a school like Brigham Young as a gay person, they won't even let their faculty publish gay affirming research. They also have a number of faculty who have promoted explicitly racist and homophobic views.

The rankings are based on student perception of LGBT acceptance at various schools, so it is likely that the Catholic Universities are placed unfairly high on the list because of more liberal student bodies. Notre Dame is a far more gay friendly institution than BYU.
When a subject is highly controversial — and any question about sex is that — one cannot hope to tell the truth. One can only show how one came to hold whatever opinion one does hold. One can only give one's audience the chance of drawing their own conclusions as they observe the limitations, the prejudices, the idiosyncrasies of the speaker.

I think LGBT acceptance is pretty high in most major US Universities. The only one on that list that really doesn't come as a surprise is Sarah Lawrence, since it was practically a lesbian collective in the 60s.

Well, I guess that it's still better than any of universities here. Smile
