What is Humanism?
#12
In general humanism is a belief that moral good or moral principles can be derived entirely from human experience without the external authority of a deity (though not necessarily in opposition to). This is where the academic field of the "humanities" gets its name. Humanist can be religious or not, it depends on their interpretation of humanism.
