I was sweet-talked into giving a guest lecture at a local college late last year. The talk actually went well, and the students were surprisingly responsive, and asked appropriate questions et al. And I was offered a couple hundred in exchange, which was nice. But getting this money has proven to be a bureaucratic nightmare. The professor forgot to "put in" for the guest lecture. Then he needed an invoice. Then he needed a "professional invoice". Then he needed a "professional invoice" in PDF format. Then I needed to sign the "professional invoice" and resubmit it. Then I needed a W9. Then I needed to resubmit the W9 in pdf form with a signature. Then I needed to redo the invoice since the name on the invoice didn't quite match the one on the W9.
Still haven't been paid. But I've been invited back to give a guest lecture this semester too!
