Well I got my car back, finally. The deer did about $10,000 in damage and with all the towing and so forth the claim will probably be around $11,500. One of the things that are on my policy is an OEM declaration which means the body shop will only use new OEM parts which is likely why it was so damn expensive... And the headlights were $1,600 each, yes you read that right.
I know I am likely to be biased, but I drove a Hyundai Elantra for a month and comparing it to the Prius...well I prefer my Prius. It rides so much better, a much softer ride...not that the Prius is soft comparing it to a lux-o-barge from the 70's and 80's but definitely a more comfortable ride. That and I feel like the Prius is a more solid car, but perhaps that is just how the seats and perhaps fit and finish is. Likewise, the gas mileage is about double that of the Elantra. I mean I went about all week on maybe 1.5 gallons of gas before I did go fill it up.
So hopefully no more deers for a long time to come.
