I think you need to trust your partner. Therer is not much you can do other than trusting him. If you push him too much about he seeing his ex, he will feel you don't trust him, which your relationship is going to go downhill and his ex, of course, is happy to ruin your relationship without doing too much damage. If your partner is honest/trustful person, then he will appreciate your understanding. Otherwise, the problem is from your partner not from his ex and you probably will find out. As long as you and your partner have good communication and if his ex doesn't take away your time with your partner, why don't you give him some space?! I am a quiet person and so I only have a few friends and I value my friends. I can understand your partner's point of view, but I will never be friend with someone I don't trust. This is only my personality, can't speak for yout partner. Try to wait to see what will happen than make something happen.
