I am friends, or at least parted on good terms with, everybody I ever dated seriously except one, who is mentally imbalanced. I don't hold ill will towards him but he makes me uncomfortable.
That said, I think you are being pretty reasonable, but ultimately have to decide if this is a show-stopper for you or not. Maybe should make friends with the ex's new guy so you and he can hang out while they are, and see how either one of them likes that.
