Any Architecture/History Buffs That Might Help Me?

Thanks guys for all the input, I wasn't expecting as much help as I'm getting here!

I gave the tour Sunday and I put it out there to the tour takers. It's definitely a fleur de lys. It must be just for stylistic purposes because that neighborhood doesn't have a strong French connection. And it did look like a poppy to me (the link you shared [MENTION=22948]TigerLover[/MENTION] isn't working for me though. But someone on the tour said that poppies did have a connection to the Netherlands, probably what [MENTION=23118]starlight[/MENTION] pointed out too.

Anyway I tried to take a picture as I was leading a tour, holding my notes, and a binder of photos. I wasn't going to be able to get it casually and quickly as I wanted to, so I come to you guys empty handed. But I give the tour again in a few weeks and before I do I'll go back and snap some photos to show the historical society as well as you guys.
