to GaySpeak. What makes you think that you'd lose your friends if you told them you are gay? Is it because they are from the same cultural background as you are? Because if they are not, it is likely they would be at least supportive. Canada's known how to treat its gay population for quite a few years now. What are your reasons for hesitating? Je crois qu'il est temps de prendre ta vie en main, et de te permettre de vivre les sentiments que tu as besoin d'éprouver, ainsi que de vivre la sexualité qui en découle, si cela fonctionne entre toi et quelqu'un d'autre. Le meilleur moyen de ne pas s'attirer l'opprobre, est de vivre sa vie normalement, et de ne pas papillonner à droite et à gauche. Les gens te feront confiance si tu as un steady boyfriend.... non? Que désires-tu, en fait?
For the moment, regarding your mum and parents and siblings, you are busy studying in Canada, so surely, they don't necessarily expect you to come back with a girlfriend. In fact, they are probably hoping you will come home and marry someone at home, but... it is likely they will lose you to Canada if you apply for a longer visa and eventually find a life there. Good luck with those first encounters, but remember that you want to go into them prepared, so get some condoms (etc) if you intend to go the whole way. Better to be prepared.
