I can kinda understand that to a degree, I did the same myself when I first joined in 2012, because I was not at all comfortable with who I am back then. But there does seem to be rather a lot of people doing this. Or maybe not? I have always thought there is a possibility that many of these threads could be being made by the same person, we have had some very odd individuals frequent the forum over the years, so you never know.
As for the advice threads, I do think Cuddly makes a very valid point, I reckon a fair few people never stick around for the silly amount of time it takes for their thread to appear, so they probably aren't seeing their threads or responses. Yes, the system is good at weeding out trolls but it also weeds out genuine newbies too it seems.
I think you're right Cridders88 and Cuddly, it's probably something to do with the posts being retained for moderation which puts them off. Many may not be so fond of posting on this site (or any site) in the first place. Who can tell what makes people stick around, or what makes people come back to their posts? I'm sure if the post is very relevant or the sought advice is important, the posters will come back and engage.
