New Aquarium

Beautiful !

My family had an aquarium for several years. We had gold fish and several tropical fish during different period (including those you've shown) but it was a lot of work to take care of them.

When I was little, I always think that I'll have a big, complex and impressive aquarium in my future house. Of course right now I can't have one and I think I wouldn't have the courage to take on such a big task myself.

Btw could you take a pic of the whole aquarium ?

I know a lot of places don't allow aquariums (or large ones rather) since glass can break and 55 gallons can do quite a lot of damage. The one I have setup right now is a 10 gallon aquarium. I do have pictures or can take one. The plants aren't doing that well, mainly because I was an idiot and didn't put root tabs where they needed to go. I followed the "instructions" on the package which said to place the root tabs evenly in the substrate when they really need to be below the plant, that and there weren't any fish in the aquarium for several weeks and I suspect they were just starving. Overall, I think they're starting to recover but definitely not one for showcasing lol. I learned the error of my way on that and am going with Fluval Stratum so I don't have to use root tabs at all.

It is possible to get it to where you don't do water changes at all but you really have know what you're doing, it is possible either by plants or anoxic bacteria that can consume nitrates enough to keep at safe levels. I definitely will read more into it.

Going to hopefully go get the tank tonight. I'll try to post some pictures later on.

Don't worry. From the zoomed-in pics it already looks much better than ours in the past lol. Coz my family didn't bother to decorate them in details so it looked always like half-finished.
