Shameful Thoughts

Do you honestly believe, that YOU, have a choice to entertaining these thoughts and whether or not you act on your desire to have sex with a child?

To be fair I dont actually meet the clinical diagnostic criteria for suffering from pedophilia which would be: Over a period of at least six months, recurrent intense sexual urges and sexually arousing fantasies involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children (generally age 13 or younger).

To answer your question if I honestly believe I have a choice to entertain these thoughts or not I would have to say I do have a choice. When a thought pops up my I can either idealize it in my head and entertain the thought by focusing on it or I can choose to think about something else entirely to distract myself so the shameful thought is soon forgotten.

Ill give you a good example. You are in the store grocery shopping and spot a hot guy with a perfect butt in tight jeans. The thought pops in your head "OMG look at that a$$, what I wouldnt give to bend him over right now". You have two options you can pick from. Option A: Keep the thought process going by continuing to check him out by following him around the store so you continue entertaining thoughts about sex like having steamy hot sex with him and deep throating him. OR Option B: Interrupt the thought process by looking at your grocery list and continue shopping for the milk, eggs, bread, apples, dish soap , paper towels,etc. you came to the buy while forgetting about the sexy man you saw previously.

My point being the more you idealize and focus on the fantasys the more desensitized you become to them. Sooner or later they will become ingrained into your psyche and you are much more likely to act them out because you view them normal in your mind now.
