Working towards that change in small steps is what Obama advocates, and such honesty (rather than dissembling) is admirable to my mind.

Gays need to stop looking at the government to change their lives cause it's not going to happen
on a social level we have made HUGE progress in the US ... many areas you don't need to be afraid .. don't need to pretend .. you just need to be you.. thats how it should be ... now we just need to stamp out those areas where it is still a problem
there will always be HATE in the US against this one or that one .. it's not a gay problem .. it's just a problem .. but the government isn't gonna fix it EVER
