When TALKING HEADS broke up I was really upset. I tried to like Byrne but never did. I am sure that he did some great stuff but I never heard it (hint hint)...
I really wanted to like Devo (I thought Jocko Homo was a great single - let's face it there haven't been many western rock bands who have had hits in 7/8), but style seemed to distract from substance. I didn't much care for their version of Satisfaction, I preferred the Stones original. Actually I can't think of any Rolling Stones songs I prefer covered by others. There have been some great versions of Beatles songs though. Here are two of my favourites
