Here are two songs that you may know that were freestyle.
Joyce Simms recorded freestyle back in the day, and her song was one of the first freestyle songs to hit the UK charts. Here is her performing on Top of The Pops.
In 1987, the Pet Shop Boys were in the US, and really liked the freestyle sound that was big in the Miami clubs. They ended up working with producer Lewis A. Martinée, who produced all the hit singles for Exposé, as well as the freestyle acts Sequal and Voice In Fashion.
The result of those sessions was their single "Domino Dancing".
