Whenever I see or hear a quote I like I write it down in a notebook I carry with me. So many, so here are a few ...
HL Menchen: "Theology is the effort to explain the unknowable in terms of the not worth knowing."
Tazorora TG Musarurwa (legal practitioner and former Zimbabwean magistrate): "We must all become suspicious when the law seeks to criminalise acts based solely on moral grounds ... history has taught us that the person who claims to hold the moral yardstick will eventually use it for tyrannical purposes."
Hugh Masekela (South African musician, in an interview with Lenny Henry): "It is much harder to be the oppressor than the oppressed, especially if you can't dance and can't sing."
Linda McDonald (sexual health nurse with the Terence Higgins Trust on the rise in STDs among men over 50): "Never trust a smiling straight man."
Doctor Who has come up with some excellent ones this season. Here are a couple I quite like.
Idris (the personification of the TARDIS): "I like biting. It's a lot like kissing, but there's a winner."
Rory: "Shut up, Hitler!"
