Goodbye Rome
#1
Oh geez -- Verse-a-tile's poems are hilarious. Too bad it's been awhile. Anyways - not much action in this forum section, and I write stuff occasionally, so why not do a little something with both?

Goodbye Rome

It's time to head home.
Pack your few belongings
And go down that road
you know corrodes
the last rose left of Rome.

Don't forsake
what the cub's paw stole
from the hive
in the form of honeycombs.
Paint the skies,
reflect the gloaming's break
from an orange glow
into a black hole.

Erode the Capitol
you long ago extolled;
besought chronicles
of phony rainbows
while quarreled
in it's folds
with ghosts and angels.

Worse than what
you wished on others.
A festered blister
turned cancer
from exposure.
A lone leper
on a forced adventure
into nowhere.

If only....

You'll never see your colony.
