This is not directed at any one person and not meant to harm nor insult nor offend anyone. Its 'food for thought'.

Yes I know we call ourselves 'Gay' but the truth is that depressed or suicidal may actually be the better name to call ourselves. Not Gay (happy/joyful)

LGBT are more prone to substance abuse, more prone to suicide, more prone to many self destructive behaviors from cutting to promiscuity without condoms. Lots of other behaviors and other issues exist. Not because we are LGBT - No in a perfect world where we are not persecuted, rejected, bullied, belittled and made to feel less than, we would be truly gay - happy and content. We don't live in that world.

Its not because we are LGBT, its because how we are treated for being 'that way'.

Positive issues - Sure there are some, but we can't just focus on those and shove our head in the sand and forget about the rest of it. Oh sure, we LGBT are real good at hiding the negatives. You want a great party an epic party - Get a gay man to plan it - He's real good at over compensating for the bad - real good at hiding the negative.

Being LGBT is NOT just a positive experience. There is a lot of negative to it.- Again, its not because we are that way, its because of how we are treated for being 'that way'.

If the 'kids' can't come here and talk openly and freely about how they hurt, how all of the negative shit that is poured onto them day to day makes them feel, where exactly are they to go?

Oh sure there are depression forums, I guess they can go there. I guess we can tell the kids who are bullied to run off to a bullying forum so we can forget that we were bullied, harassed and down right persecuted too. Sure there is the suicide hotline, not our concern if it works for the poster or not - after all we can close our eyes and just forget it and not think about it and it goes way.

Yes we take great offense when a kid offs himself over bullying - yet at the same time we can't seem to muster an ounce of concern to actually talk to the kids, to let them have a place to breath and vent. I fail to see how this is less a crime than being the person taunting and tormenting them. Perhaps one of you wise people can explain the difference. I fail to see it.

We have such wonderful, brilliant, clever people coming here - I'm sorry they are broken toys - It does grieve me much that the world broke them. I can not deny them their post, I cannot deny them membership here because they don't meet the standards of a Positive vision for the Gay New World Order.

They get enough of being told they ain't enough by the rest of the world. Why on earth would we continue to repeat these lies?

You want a positive gay experience, then make it positive not just for yourself but for them too.

They are coming here - not to some other forum - here - looking for relief, looking for help. They trust us - they trust YOU. They depend on you too.

I'm sorry if being the shoulder for someone to cry on scares you. I'm sorry if it makes you feel uncomfortable. I'm sorry if it hurts. But if you don't step up to the plate to do it for them, who will?

Different Strokes...Different Folks. I take offense but I am not going to elaborate because it is my problem but you do assume so much. I am instead happy that you and others have what it takes to help the people who come here.Confusedmile:

Yeah LGBT are more prone to these behaviours I myself have exhibited cutting, but I am making the choice to not view this sort of content. Bravo if you can be a shoulder to cry on Bowyn but I can't, I think I need to be able to help myself before I actually attempt to help others. If I want to take a back seat on the forum I will. I have made brilliant friends on here and I will keep in contact with these people because they are the ones who have been there for me and bring positivity into my life, one in particular who I consider a real friend. Yeah the world can be a rough and negative place but I'm not going to let it turn me into a cynical and ratty person. that's all I have to say on this matter. Thanks for hijacking my thread, always a pleasure:biggrin:

I'm very new here and don't even know you, OP.. But I've seen your posts (even read your sauna visit post and enjoyed it. I think you're intelligent and have offered good advice to people. But you're right, online life is no filler for a REAL life..and living vicariously through a forum of strangers is..creepy? I'd like to think this place is more for helping the lost than it has ever been for 'cool gays' to just hang. That's the internet for you, if we were out there being well-adjusted, complacent and efficient machines, we wouldn't be sitting here soaking in the artificial ultra-violet, so to speak.

I haven't even worked up the proverbial balls to make a post about my own problems and how unsorted I feel about them... Probably never will. But I know there would be lots of support and comfort from everyone if I did.. That's why this place is special. I've never met a less judgmental group of kings and queens anywhere.

Good luck on all your stuffs, don't be a stranger : )))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

You know, SadSilence tries to get rid of his addiction, Zeon is working on breaking his smoking habit. Maybe you can also find a supportive group here that will help you with your addiction
