Alas there are four species of echidna that also lay eggs.

But what would you sing about if you did not have words?

Is it a proven fact? as far as I know it is not certain whether he was gay, bi or heterosexual.

I'm pretty sure. He married his wife to cover up his homosexuality, thus destroying their marriage and confided in his benefactor[who's name is to hard for me to remember to spell  ].

Besides, he was also one of the only males to write ballet, such as the Nutcracker Suite, at the time. Wink

Wikipedia him  I had to for a school project last year.

Can you name a contemporary female Russian composer of ballet music?

Unfortunately no, because the Music book that I study from only has the most famous or contributory composers/musicians in Medieval/Baroque/Classical/Romantic/Modern[20th century] history, and during most of these times, women were not very accomplished in many areas, if at all.

There's probably alot today, but at the time, most Music, let alone Ballet, was written by men, and only a few women were ever noted for writing Music before the 20th century or so.

Peter Ilich Tchaikovsky & Igor Stravinsky are the most notable for their works in Ballet, with many lesser known composers coming later on.

So no, If they haven't been written about or are "very big", then I probably won't know them, cause I'm too lazy to research every musician and composer.

Although not Russian, Robert Schumann's wife, Clara Schumann, was an accomplished Pianist and composer, taking over for her late husband, though she was famous in the Romantic Period and is probably one of a few notable female composers/musicians.
