any relationship will cool down, try something new

Could it be that it is to do with his health? Or maybe it is stress?
•
Could it be there is too much of a focus in the bedroom department and not enough focus on other aspects of the relationship? IE the big L word?

Before we jump to the conclusion that there is something wrong with 'Us' do rule out other potential factors.
Health can be one. If he is having any prostate issues, from slight swelling to infection production of pre-ejaculate can be reduced, even greatly. While pain is often associated with a prostate infection, a 'minor' infection can be present with little to no pain.
Lack of interest in sex doesn't mean there is anything wrong with you. Too much work, being over tired, too many stresses (financial, worrying about the health of someone - including your dog/cat) can all lead to a loss of interest in the sex department.
Many drugs can cause a loss of enthusiasm. Not full impotence, Many OTC pills from cold treatments to pain relievers can cause slight impotence. Street drugs can affect it, Prescription drugs. Along this list of drugs is Alcohol, Nicotine and Caffeine. If he drinks lots of caffeinated drinks (fizzy drinks/soda, coffee, tea) it is possible that his plumbing is being mucked with.
Horribly, a minor lost of interest or ability in sex can lead to a vicious circle for males as they start to worry and stress over their seeming lack of ability and that added anxiety leads to more issues with Mr. Winky which leads to more stress, worry anxiety.
Talk to him about this, ask him how much stress he is under, has there been a change in his dietary behaviors (such as drinking a lot of caffeinated drinks to 'stay awake'? How does he feel in general?
