Marriage Equality is on its way.

And today this came to me through another channel. I thought I'd share these good thoughts. Thanks Anne Hathaway.

Well, New Zealand seems to have beaten us to it... Good for them!

This video retraces the three years since marriage became possible in the state of Vermont and encourages Americans of all walks of life to push for marriage equality on a federal scale.

I wish we were anywhere close to SSM here. Sure occasional celebrations like Southern Decadence and Pride Week are allowed without major confrontations but, I fear we will never convince the gentry around here that being that openly gay on a day to day basis is acceptable.

We don't even have laws protecting us from being fired, being denied service at restaurants, or being thrown out of stores, or any other protections based on sexuality. It hasn't happened since I've lived here, but legally any business could fire me, ask me to leave, or refuse to serve me and the only reason they need is that I am gay. So, I doubt I will see SSM legal here in my lifetime.

And from Tasmania yesterday

Gay Union Law Passed

Tasmania is the small island south of Australia that often gets forgotten, but they have been instrumental in moving forward as they were the first state to decriminalise homosexuality and the first state to bring the age of consent in line with heterosexuals.

Unless you openly said: "I am gay", how could they possibly know what your sexual orientation was? Would they not be ''assuming'', and would that be legally defendable?

Oh, that's where Matt Baume went after the Stop8org channel died.
