Living with roommate (someone I was seeing)

Hi guys!


I live with a straight and gay roommates. I used to see the gay roomate and he rented me a room in the house that he is leasing. A couple days after I moved in---he advised that he didn't want to see me anymore as he is not ready to date (he is going through weight issues and trying to slim down). Also, As I talked to him about it in one of our conversations-he mentioned he was just meant to be alone. I really cared for him and wanted to see where this goes. He mentioned that something told him that I would be fine with that. I was like 'that's not true'.
Fast forward ---He acts weird around me and really makes minimal talk and though I want to be his friend as we planned...it's kind of difficult. I tried talking to him about it but he saids he's fine. He just seems to be going through loads of insecurity issues and I'm not to blame for that.
I'm currently trying to meet friends and date as his insecurities really turned me off. I just truly want to be there as a friend!

be extremely clear on your intentions ( you as a friend ).
I think; give him lots of compliments. Re assure him every so often and repeat things.
dont fake the conversation.

You can't change him. He obviously knows he has issues, why on earth he invited you in as a roommate escapes me since he is bound to understand that there will be tension there.

And it may be that that tension is what is making him behave oddly.

It is an all around odd situation, first you were 'seeing each other' you moved in and then suddenly you are too close and he needs space.

hmm, seems odd to me. just be there for him and as soon as he gets over these issues and he might want to be with you after all that. worth a try. and why would he let you move in if he doesnt want to be close to you?
