I say no one wins cus the usa is so screwed up already that whoever wins is gonna screw it up even more... so it doesnt matter.

We need to face facts. The future of America is at stake. The future Obama wants is not what I want. We can worry about Gay rights after we get our country back on economic solvency and people are working at high paying jobs.
Obama grew up in Indonesia he has no idea what its like to be a proud American.

Romney has so much bad too, but particularly his views on Womens rights and GLBT rights are so totally backwards. :mad:
I pretty much see it as if Romney wins: people's rights go into the dark ages, but the economy/etc will truly be improved. And on a side note even if he wins I think people will still end up being forced to pay for that health insurance crap even if they can't afford it (yeah he says he'll repeal that crap, but I doubt it)
If Obama wins: The country drowns in dept/bankruptcy and fails (but people's rights will be improved)
I don't see itthat way at all. If Obama wins there will be no rights to have. If the country fails we will be less free, with less rights. Trust me.

As much as I hate Romney's moral and social views, he's the one I feel will best get our economy moving toward getting back on track and, I do support gun rights and do not want to see further bans and restrictions on those. I do think Romney will see that Obamacare is repealed, another plus for him.
Where he fails is on LGBT, women and abortion and, I'm willing to risk that. I think that for the nation as a whole, Romney is the better choice and, at the least my vote will be one more trying to get Obama out of there.

Things are screwed up now, its a global thing with Europe and to some extent Asia starting to recess. Americans dont travel much tho and only see as much as they can. I really think once things improve the debt will go away, like in the late 90's. You cant tell me Prez Clinton had anything to do with the budget being balanced for a couple of years back then. No matter who we elect the economy and the debt will improve by them selves. Unless Romney starts another couple of wars.
Obama wasnt given a lot when he started. The Bush era trashed the place.
The federal government can't bring back the economy. Federal spending, no matter what they do, is only a small tiny effort compared to the total economic picture. And an international one at that.

I'm not responding to any particular post, just making a general statement...
As long as the discussion pivots around Obama/Romney and/or Democrats/Republicans we'll get NO WHERE.
The solutions we NEED will NEVER come from the very power structure who put us right where we are today.
There WILL be a "breakdown" crisis. I cannot say what shape or form this will take, but philosophically it's known as "creative destruction".
Just as a forest needs a fire every now and then to clear out the dead material so that new life can spring up!
Don't fear the future. Crisis = opportunity. The sooner it happens the better.

I agree, there is no good choice. I mean if I could force a candidate to support all of my wishes, sure it's be great, but that will never happen. Here s/he is, if you hear of him/her, let me know.
1.Must support US second amendment rights and not seek further gun controls.
2. Must work to balance the federal budget.
3. Must make same sex marriage legal nation wide.
4. Must insure same sex, and LGBT single parents are considered equally for adoption with heterosexual prospective parents.
5. Must not push any form of socialized health care.
6. Must insure Social Security and Medicare will be there when the grand children of this generation retire.
7. Must lower interest rates, taxes across the board and encourage businesses of all sizes, thus decreasing the unemployment rate.
8. Must add stricter criteria for people to get unemployment and public assistance, and make it more difficult to keep those things long term.
9. Must not be a warmonger, and must seek peaceful solutions to both domestic and international conflicts.
10. Must NOT be one of the brain washed politicians already in Washington.

^^ I agree with all of Blue's comments...except #5 - the only true 'fix' I see to it would be to do something sorta like Canada has. Deff forcing people to pay private for-profit insurance companies is not the answer.

No socialized health care. Many Canadians come here because they cannot get the care they need at home. Say you are 75 and need a hip replacement, the Canadian doctor says you have arthritis, and diabetes, so he doesn't think a hip replacement will improve your quality of life or longevity enough to warrant the procedure. No hip replacement for you.
Never mind that it would be the difference between being in a wheelchair and walking, even if that was with the aid of a walker.
Or, Oh, cancer at 80, well okay life expectancy with that cancer is 3-5 years and we don't think you'd live longer than that anyway, so, we aren't going to treat it.
No thanks! It might be costly here but, at least if I need something medically, I can get it and work out a payment plan to get it paid for and, I don't have to pay for what I don't use, only what I do need, which is why I don't have insurance, I am not paying 100.00 a week when I spend on average 2000.00 a year without insurance for medical care.

What would really do America and the American Tax Payer a great service (sure it will screw the rest of you, but hey you ain't American, so who really cares :tongue:  :biggrin Is to pull out our military from all of those peaceful ally nations.
Seriously why are we having to be the police of the world? Can't the UK protect her own interests? Can't Taiwan come up with a military? Sheesh they sell enough crap to us that they surely have made a few trillion in profit. Do we really need military bases in Germany? That wall fell 20+ years ago, Germany United - surely we don't have to maintain a base there in case Germany hiccups again.
The USA is over extended, and continues to have this huge military spending problem. We send troops to stay in bases in our ally's countries - IT seems highly irregular to me. Why not bring those troops back and put them to some real work like rebuilding infrastructure instead of having them crawl through mud and climb single walls (why they can't walk around I don't understand)?
The president who sees reasons and figures out that our military is too big and too costly to 'protect' other nations who have economies, are first world and have people and only need to start spending their own money on their own defense will get my vote.
And will save the USA a lot of heart ache and trouble.
Yes the rest of the world would be screwed - because suddenly they would have to fight their own battles and keep their own enemies at bay - the way it should be.
