You have to be pretty dumb to choose to attend a school like Brigham Young as a gay person, they won't even let their faculty publish gay affirming research. They also have a number of faculty who have promoted explicitly racist and homophobic views.

The rankings are based on student perception of LGBT acceptance at various schools, so it is likely that the Catholic Universities are placed unfairly high on the list because of more liberal student bodies. Notre Dame is a far more gay friendly institution than BYU.

I'm surprised UCB is not on the tolerant list - UCB is so liberal and open-minded brains fall out every where.Xyxthumbs

I think LGBT acceptance is pretty high in most major US Universities. The only one on that list that really doesn't come as a surprise is Sarah Lawrence, since it was practically a lesbian collective in the 60s.
