What the Devil does the performing arts industry do to its stars? This morning I see that the young actor Brad Renfro has been found dead. No cause known yet. We constantly hear of performers being found dead or going into rehab or having drugs problems. Surely the lifestyle cannot be that intense that they cannot live without some sort of physical stimulus be it from a bottle or box? The older stars are not immune. You see actors and actress's on screen with WHITE hair in their 40's so something must be cockeyed somewhere. How many more of these talented young people must be sacrificed on the altar of entertainment?

Seeing his face and given he was only 25 years old make me shiver with horror. Rest in peace is what i have to say. Other than that i have no sympathy. They get a chance to be in an industry that makes them famous and rich and they spend their money in wrong things.
Everyday a lot of young people die from their heroin addiction who are not in the entertainment industry, it has to be someone cute and somewhat famous (because i havent heard of him before) to make the headlines.
Cant blame the entertainment world for the star's drug use. It is a choice one has to make regardless the public status they might have. If one starts on drugs to bee seen as cool it's due lack of education and emotional maturity.

Maybe life in the limelight burns you out quicker than if you live in the darkness of the wings? I believe some actors/tresses find celebrity very hard to cope with and make the wrong choices about the use of drugs. A bit like sports people who believe in performance enhancing drugs too.
Could be greed, or immaturity or a claim for fame that is larger than their lives can bear.
Still, it's a shame to see someone so young lose their life so early, nipped in the bud.:frown:

Drugs can be a fantastic enlightening experience, or create a sense of community that is difficult to fabricate elsewhere. Humanity has been using drugs to create altered states of consciousness for thousands of years. It's about moderation and discipline - and true, most users lack or lose that control. Still, I think the real tragedy here is that British school leavers don't know how to spell properly.
