Idiot Moments
#1
I thought I may start this thread to share momentsof our lives that, at the time, we found embarrising and that but looking back at it now, you cant help but laugh.

Once me and a friend went to the cinema but got something to eat before hand After finishing our meal we went to the cinema. I needed the loo and the signs for the loo were small. So I went into the loo and as I walked in I couldnt help but think "these are a bit fancy". Done my business and as I was finishing up I could hear voices...........female voices. I realised I walked into the ladies toilet and didnt realise (despite being 2 girls I walked past on the way in and thought nothing of it). So walked straight out the toilet passing about 10 - 15 girls on the way out and another dozen of people waiting outside the toilet. I automatically went and hid behind a corner near the cinema screen doors. That moment between realising "oh ive walked into the girls toilet" and "how do I get out of here" was possibly the most embarrised ive been ... yet.

Oh, I'm quite good at embarrassing myself, so much so that I don't even get embarrassed about some of it anymore.

I have a recurring dream in which I am sleeping in my semi and, it starts to roll with no one driving. Invariable I will bolt out of bed, stark naked, and head for where my still sleeping brain thinks the brake pedal is. Nine of ten times, this results in me being awakened singing soprano because I managed to smash into some obstacle. That might be the gear shift, if I'm actually in the truck, more often it's the dresser, the window screen, falling flat on my face after tripping on the shoes I left too close to the bed, etc... Rofl

Now real embarrassment is when I forget to grab my robe or shorts and answer the door naked only to find total strangers or kids at my door.

GoldenEye, reading your post, I found it hilarious; It's the stuff that comedies are made of. I suppose you could be excused for not being able to see the signs. Maybe you should tell (or have told) management that their signs to the toilet need to be more explicit, or bigger. lol.
Things that embarrass us greatly, are things that make us improve our behaviour. We always think that it won't happen again, or that we won't let it happen to us again. Isn't that so? So, somehow, life has taught us a lesson. And given us an opportunity to tell a funny personal story.

I think one of my own most embarrassing moments was when I was in a stage play. The dressing rooms were way out of reach, up two flights of stairs and a long corridor to reach the stage, past the auditorium. In the play my part wasn't very long, and there were two children playing too. So that day, once I'd said my text, I went back up to the dressing room to take care of the children, and we started playing a game of cards or something. The room was fitted with a sound system so we could hear what was going on on stage, but it wasn't very loud. We also could have done with having a stage manager or production assistant, but there wasn't one and each person had to be their own responsibility and do things under their own steam.
I generally like to stay in the wings of the stage when doing a show, because I like to watch what others are doing, and especially when it's my turn to be there, I don't miss my cue. But there was very little space in the wings and the director didn't want the children to be waiting there in case they'd get bored and start making a noise.
However because of me being responsible for the young children (I think one was 8 or 9, the other about 5 or 6) and because my entrance was to be made with the children in my hands, I was up there with them.
Suddenly the door to the dressing room flew open, another off stage actress said to us: "Quick, quick! You ought to be on stage, and you're still up here.... Hurry! Hurry!" She was frantic.
The three of us rushed down the stairs, past the corridor and panted on stage, saying (that was my line): "Sorry for being late, we couldn't find a place to park." This was actually my line, haha, but the two ladies on stage had been ad libbing for a few minutes. We had a good laugh about it later and how the two ladies had managed to keep the audience happy and entertained while we were rushed onto the boards. The children were as red and flushed as I was. But for me, part of it was SHAME! This is not a situation to put your fellow actors in.
I've sworn to myself that this would never happen again. So I hope it doesn't. But you never know. Wink
