Technically speaking the idea of risk comes in that a gay man is having a lot of unprotected sex (especially anal), whereas the idea is that women do not (nor shoot up, etc), and so if she's with a guy who's faithful then she's a lot less likely to catch anything. But then if her husband has a lot of sex with prostitutes (female as well as male) then she's in more danger of catching all kinds of STDs, including AIDS, then many careful gay men (even if it's purely vaginal).
But bigots just accept whatever circumstances are most convenient to imagine as universal truths, so they don't think of faithful gay men or unfaithful husbands, etc. Furthermore, the idea that marriage settles men down and thus cuts down risk factors isn't something they're going to consider because it's inconvenient...instead they twist it in their twisted minds as saying approval for gay marriage is approval for gay orgies with strangers on a daily basis...and that's literally how their dysfunctional brains work, btw.
