Ah the great escape!

I like video games, though sometimes I don't like to say it out loud because I'd like to pretend I'm above such childish nonsense. With that said....

The Mass Effect trilogy is the greatest sci-fi story told in a visual medium.... beyond compare! It's incredible.

Red Dead Redemption also incorporates an amazing, compelling and thought provoking story and vivid sympathetic characters. By actually pulling the trigger yourself the connection between you and the protagonist is (or can be, as in the case of RDR) much stronger than in a movie (books don't compare to either of course. See? I'm still a grown up).

Morrowind and Skyrim are masterpieces of course (Oblivion, not so much in my opinion. What was up with the dark elves?)

The only thing I've played lately is Civilization V. I love the Civ series. If you're a history buff it's especially engaging. It's like Risk on crack.

^ I think you'd like the walking dead video games a lot. The TellTale ones, if you're in for a good story.

As of currently I own an xbox 360
I have played on it
L.A Noire (LOVED IT!)
Half life 2
Portal
Fable 1-3
COD
Resident evil 1-6
Marvel V.S Capcom
Minecraft
Halo (1-4 + Anniversary)

I award you 9 points for this list. I would've given you a full ten, but you forced me to take one away for including Fable 3.

I'll definitely check it out, thanks. Haven't seen the show and I'm not a huge zombie fan, but I do indeed love a good story.

If so, then I am an avid player of tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons and World of Darkness. I used to play video games, but can't seem to get into them like I once did. But when I did play, my console of choice was a PC and my genre of choice were RPGs. My favorite game of all time to this day though is Planescape: Torment....brilliant game I would recommend to anyone.

I always wanted to play D & D, but I never knew the right people. I assume you're a Baldur's Gate fan? I'm playing Baldur's Gate on and off right now and I'm loving it. I'd like to give Planescape a try if they adapt it to mac.

You can try to find groups online...but I'll be honest with you...its not the same as actually having people sitting around the table playing Smile Maybe try a local hobby store? They usually host D&D and World of Darkness games weekly.

I loved Baldur's Gate, especially the second one....awesome rpgs.....but Planescape just blows them out of the water as far as I'm concerned. Its not very combat heavy, but the brilliant story, characters and atmosphere of the game more than make up for that Smile I believe you can get it on Steam for about $10

Shame though about not knowing anyone to play D&D with. I moved recently and I don't have anyone to play it with either.....now how am I going to unleash my inner nerd every Friday night!!!!!

Yeah, I'm really slogging through BG1 to get to BG2 'cause everyone says that's the greatest game in the history of ever. Planescape sounds perfect for me because I love good storytelling in games and am not the most adept at the combat. And I've heard the 2nd edition DnD rules are relatively clunky. Sometimes during combat in BG1 I feel like I don't really know what the hell I'm doing.

"Uh.... maybe I'll pick the spell with all the pretty colors now. Go Flying colors making wizard!!! Oh, look at that, all my guys are dead again."

I do really enjoy it though. Maybe I'll check out the hobby shops around. There's a few where I'm at. Do you think a complete newbie at 24 would accepted. I don't have much credentials to show off, you know what I mean?

Oh, I forgot to add to my list earlier:

The Book of Unwritten Tales!

That game is just delightful. If you ever liked the Monkey Island games or any of the older LucasArts point and click games (The Dig, Full Throttle) then you'll really like TBoUT. It just makes me happy.

Personally, I am a DM and I'll be turning 28 soon. Age doesn't factor into it at all....I know guys in their 50s who still play D&D Smile I have NEVER turned away someone because of them being a newbie....I know myself and the other DMs I talk to find that teaching newcomers the ropes to be part of the fun Smile

Of course, not everyone is the same and there are those elitists out there who don't make time for the newbs....but from what I have seen, they are in the minority. Most Dungeon Masters are very patient and willing to help the newbies, you'll just have to go looking around the hobby stores and meet people Smile Ask the owner if they host tabletop games and let them know you're interested in learning. I can almost be positive that the owner or a regular there will find someone to help you along.

Best of luck!
