Having a kid

Just ensure that you maintain a complete and total separation between your personal life and your professional one. If there is any suspicion (ANY) that the teacher/pupil relationship is crossing into uncomfortable boundaries then things can get ugly very quickly, regardless of whether there is any wrong doing or not (And Im not suggesting there is or there could be, but remember your dealing with the suspicion and perceptions of other people that you may work around)

In the UK, as a stable and loving same sex couple you can foster and adopt children, so don't assume that because your gay you can never have the "family unit" that hetrosexual couples do.

One thing you haven't mentioned is if your out to family and co-workers. I know I went through a period of depression when I was closeted as I felt I couldn't be myself around people. Ive been out to everyone for the last 12 years and honestly have never looked back.

Glad your feeling better about things Smile

always do outings away from your home and work place. Basically as in the post above separate your personal life from him

As when you are teaching, leave the doors open so people can see you when you two are alone, if it happens, if not, try to make sure that people could see you, even if from a distance, so that no one could reproach you with having dubious attitudes or gestures that are out of place. Befriending the parents is a good idea. Once they know who you are, they can, we hope, trust you to behave normally with their child. Maybe they'll welcome that he's found a mentor, if he's generally rather lonely.
