Mississippi's first openly gay candidate found dead.
#1
Marco McMillian, Mississippi's first openly gay mayoral candidate was found dead yesterday and is being investigated as a homicide. (link below)

We've come a long way with equality, but unfortunately racism and bigotry is still around to haunt us. Even more disheartening is the fact that the U.S. Supreme Court is currently looking to strike down parts of the voting rights act of 1965. It's not as if there wasn't any evidence of voter suppression in our last election!

I'm hoping that the Supreme Court does not forget that racism and bigotry does yet still exist in this country and does not let Marco McMillian's name be forgotten.

The sad thing is..........

The first step to any real freedom is paved with blood.

Martin Luther King
John F. Kennedy
Harvey Milk
Joan of Arc

Freedom from persecution will never exist, in any society.

Seems the killer was also African American though, it looks like he might have been the victim of a carjacking.

Edit: Actually, it seems like he knew the killer, seems like a "gay panick" killing. Unfortunate.
