Has anyone here had hemmoroid surgery?
#1
Many years ago, I had surgery in my rectum. I was not told about eating certain things and taking stool softeners, etc. and let me tell you that was the most excruciating pain I have ever had to endure while I was healing.

I have been told by my doctor that I need to have hemorrhoid surgery since my internal hemorrhoids are bleeding. I have been trying to get info on the different procedures, the risks and recuperative time involved. The surgeon's office said I needed to have a consult and I could ask all of my questions there.

Well, I don't what to waste my time or theirs and I certainly don't want to wast my money on a myriad of consults trying to find a surgeon that knows all of the types of procedures that are out there.

Can someone tell me...that has actually gone through this, what type of procedure it was (banding [rubber/metal], laser, excision)?...how was the recuperation...how long before you could have anal sex after the surgery and any other tidbits that you learned by having this done.

Thank you for you help.

The thing is that no two human beings break exactly the same way. This is why you need to talk to your doctor about your particular case and proceed from there.

I had FISTULA surgery ( a small tunnel with an internal opening in the anal canal and an external opening in the skin near the anus.) and while not a 'roid, per-se, it's still surgery done down there.

My surgery took all of 15 minutes (yes, i was put under) and to answer your question - it was 1 year before i could have anal sex again. It took a full 9 months to fully heal and i took anotehr 3 months before i even let my hubby finger me......reality is, the location of the surgury makes recovery a lot longer than most...so just be prepared for it. Get the treatment NOW.....and get it over with!
